The footage was shot by Hillary Rae Petroski from New York who uploaded it on Facebook alongside the caption: \'My little fun adventure while shark cage diving in Mossel Bay, South Africa.\'It begins inside the metal cage but over the surface of the water, which seems white and foamy - as if something is thrashing just underneath it. Astonishing: Incredible footage shot by Hillary Rae Petroski gives a first- person view of what it is like to come face- to- face with a four metre- long great white shark. Beast: After circling the cage for a few seconds, the monster thrusts its snout into the cage - its jet black eyes clearly visible. Fearless: The video was taken by Hillary Rae Petroski (pictured) who wrote in its description: \'The round buoy attached to the side of the cage was bent in half\'The camera moves into the sea to reveal the gigantic white belly of the great white as it circles Hillary. In one sharp movement, it turns towards the cage and thrusts its giant snout between the bars - its jet black eyes clearly visible. It retreats for a second before clamping its razor- sharp teeth around the rubber padding which covers the corners of the enclosure. The bars squeak and rattle as if they are about to be ripped apart. And her friends on the boat above can be heard screaming frantically even though the camera is under water. Ferocious: \'He chomped through the round buoy attacked to the cage and bit off all the lining of the outside of the blue bar barrier,\' Hillary wrote in the You. Tube video description. Hungry: At the very beginning of the video, the beast appears to be eating something near the surface of the water. Relief: The shark eventually swims away after over a minute of trying to break open the metal cage. Adventure: Hillary (pictured) from New York did the dive on one of her days off from volunteering at Cango Wildlife Ranch in Oudtshoorn, South Africa. Hillary, originally from Huntington Beach, California, momentarily raises the camera above the water to screams of: \'Oh my God!\'As she does, the monster diverts its attention - and titanic jaws - to the opposite corner of the cage. It eventually tires of not being able to reach its meal inside and swims away. The fearless diver wrote in the video\'s description on You. Tube: \'He chomped through the round buoy attacked to the cage and bit off all the lining of the outside of the blue bar barrier. I apologize for the shakiness.\'.
